How bad is it? No one wanted their names in the credits.
Should you see it? Maybe on a slow night. I give it a barely passing grade.
Most Japanese monster films in the 1960's were meant for the local market, with inserted footage of American actors for the foreign market. This one tried to cater to American tastes, but they had as little idea as to what that meant as Americans had of what the Japanese would like. They got Luciana Paluzzi in a short skirt for eye candy and Richard Jaeckel as the "star;" that much was okay, but the plot, special effects and direction were terrible. A mission to blow up an asteroid works, but the astronauts bring back the titular slime, which mutates into one-eyed tentacled monsters that are among the most laughable imaginable. The rest of the film is us vs. them and I was kind of rooting for the monsters.
